Self-Motivation: Four D's of How to Self-Motivate

Do you want to start your own business, or perhaps you want to earn a little extra cash and payoff debts? Each day thousands of people make plans and look for ways to better their life. Unfortunately, many aspirations are never completed because some of us never take the first step. It's easy to sit back, think about goals, and make plans. On the other hand, it's not as easy to put a plan into action.

Lack of motivation is a top reason why some people never accomplish their dreams. Many persons look to others for motivation. However, if we want to succeed at a given task, we should not expect someone to hold our hand and guide us through the project. If you can learn the art of self-motivation, you've mastered an indispensable talent.
You can motivate yourself in four easy steps. All you need is desire, a decision, determination, and discipline.
1. Desire: Before you can succeed, you must have a desire, or want. The definition of desire is "a wish or longing" for something. This is a feeling that typically arises from being in an unsatisfied state. Let's say you hate your job, you may have a desire or longing for a better employment opportunity, or perhaps better pay. In this case, desire will prompt you to look for a more satisfying or rewarding job.
2. Decision: Once a desire for something better or new exists, each one must make a decision. Will you continue to live in an unfulfilled state? Will you choose to chase your desire? Some persons have huge dreams. However, self-doubt makes it impossible for them to realize their dreams. Make a decision to put aside doubt. Change your mind-set, and adopt an "I can do it" attitude. Whatever your goal or desire, write it down, and summarize a plan of action.
3. Determination: Attaining a goal takes time. If you expect overnight success, you should probably give up now. Don't let discouragement or idle talk cloud your mind or kill your joy. To reach that goal, you may have to climb every imaginable mountain, and knock down every stumbling block.
4. Discipline: Stick to a plan. It's common for someone to create a practical plan, and stick to the plan for a few weeks. However, they may gradually allow other issues to interfere with their plan, and fall off course. If you want to succeed or change an aspect of your life, you must be discipline.
