Freelance Writing Tips - Managing Your Time

Establish a Routine of Good Time Management

Because many freelance writers work from home, good time management is crucial. Writers can become easily distracted and fall behind on their workload. If considering a freelance writing career, learn tips on how to effectively manage your time and achieve your writing goals.

1. Establish Daily Goals: How much do you plan to work each day? The best way to earn a livable income as a freelance writer is to establish a daily financial goal. Some freelancers strive to earn at least $100 or more every day. Set your personal goal, and then seek jobs that will help you reach this goal.

2. Make a Schedule: Working from home lets you enjoy a flexible schedule. Nonetheless, if you plan on making a real income from home, you have to come up with a realistic schedule and stick to it. Prior to starting your workday, outline a game plan. How many articles do you have to complete? How much time will you devote to research and edits?

3. Take Periodic Breaks: The best part about working from home is the ability to "come and go" as you please. If you have errands or personal business to handle, schedule breaks throughout the day or plan on a long lunch break. If you want to become a successful freelance writer and earn money from home, don't develop a routine of writing for one or two hours and blowing off the rest of the day.
