Earn Money Writing for the Web

Writing for the web is a great way to launch a freelance writing career, and earn a nice chuck of cash. Even though some editors pay pennies per word for web content, plenty of companies respect writers and pay good money to have someone else write their web pages.

1. Begin the Article with a Two or Three Line Summary. What is the article about? If the article includes "how-to" information, the summary might read, "Want to earn extra money? Here are seven ways to start an online writing business."

2. Don't Think. After stumbling upon a great article idea, many writers spend too much time thinking about the content. Don't think - just write. The first draft doesn't have to be perfect. Focus on getting the main ideas on paper, and then re-write.

3. Use SEO Keywords. When writing web pages for a client, he or she will likely supply a list of keyword phrases. Use the phrase(s) throughout the content. A good search engine optimized article will have a keyword density of 3% - 4%.

4. Keep Web Content Simple. Web searchers want infomation that is easy to understand. Besides, good writing doesn't mean using big words. The goal is to provide information, not impress the reader with your big vocabulary.

5. Make the Article Scannable. Use short sentences, headlines, or create lists.
